Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis is a result of inflammation of the tiny filters in your kidneys. This can occur suddenly, or develop gradually over time. Glomeruli remove excess fluid, electrolytes and waste from your bloodstream and pass them into your urine. Glomerulonephritis can come on suddenly (acute) or gradually (chronic). For acute glomerulonephritis there are several effective treatments.  Sometimes patients need short term or long term renal replacement therapies.
